“Y’all Musta Fo-got”: Random thoughts on a Friday.
I haven’t checked in over here in a while. And it’s mostly because I’ve been spending my time posting at the Fanhouse. I’ve got some really good JONES ON THE NBA length posts over there right now. Here’s what I’m working with over there:
Jason Kidd: Quite Spectacular
Kevin Garnett vs. Tim Duncan: A Look at Two of the League’s Best Big Men
Derek Fisher: The Professional
Opt Out Clauses (over the next two off-seasons)
NBA Business: Black Sports Agents Take Center Stage
I also have a long standing series on the Greatest NBA Rivalries of the Last 30 Years. I’m going to be adding more rivalry posts throughout the off-season, so be sure to look out for those.
In other blogging news, the Cavalier at YAY Sports is back and funny as ever.
As well, how good has TrueHoop become? Given a larger platform and access to all of the Worldwide Leader’s resources, Henry has turned TrueHoop into something even more spectacular than it already was.
There’s more editorial content from Henry than there ever was before (which is a good thing, because he is damn good writer). After every single playoff game he’s followed up with extensive coverage and analysis. As well, have you seen his Rolling with Leandro series? That might be the best thing in the entire sports blogosphere right now.
I also love that he gives exposure to second tier players. Everyone tries to cover the Shaq’s, LeBron’s and Kobe’s of the world, while Henry is busy putting together intriguing pieces on Tayshaun Prince, Jason Terry, Brandon Roy, Leandro Barbosa, and Josh Howard.
Henry and I see eye to eye on a lot of things. Mostly, I’m in agreement with on the awesomeness of long versatile players that cause match up problems and play incredible defense. Henry, if I were a GM, I’d hire you to work in my front office.
Whoever encouraged ESPN to acquire Henry and TrueHoop needs a raise. Honestly, he’s doing a lot for the sports blogging world with the quality stuff he’s putting out there. Keep up the good work, bro.
The other blog I’m really feeling right now is The Starting Five. Like Henry, those guys have put a journalistic/editorial spin on blogging that is just refreshing. I’m especially enjoying all of the interviews they’ve been conducting with people from around sports journalism (see: Jemele Hill, Wil Leitch, and Scoop Jackson). Go over there and check them out. You honestly won’t be disappointed. Even though I was initially not the biggest fan of DWill when he was at Sports on My Mind, I've come to understand his perspective a bit more. Differences a side, I think he, Mizzo (aka Michael Tillery), and the rest of the guys over there are incredible writers. Maybe one day they'll think of adding a bench mob so that a young brotha like me can post over there from time to time.
Anyhow, I’ll try to post here more often. But if you don’t hear from me for a while, just know you can catch me over at the Fanhouse. And if you want to be notified every time I post over there, be sure to subscribe to my Fanhouse RSS feed.
